Stalker Anomaly - How to fix the emissions or psy storms not occurring.
This is a copy of my post on Reddit, which I have removed in protest during the ongoing protest, which I thought was important to save. The original post was posted on 26 May of 2022. It is about a bug in the game Stalker:Anomaly, which probably also exist (existed) in some form in the various modpacks made for that game like stalker gamma. The rest of this blog post will just be about this bug and how to fix it.
The Bug, effects and causes.
I noticed that psy storms and emissions were no longer happening. After doing some investigation (This post helped) I realized it was due to the barrier mission. Which I had failed by walking away and doing something else, getting the message that I had failed the mission. But the monolith troops were still on the map.
After unpacking the specific script (task_defense.script), I noticed that in this failure situation the 'skip surge' variable never gets reset. (No idea how to report this bug or fix it).
The Fix
I have found a quick and easy fix for anybody also having this issue. The trick is to trigger the end of the mission function. Which can easily be done by running the game in debug mode (at the launcher there in an option) then opening your console (default button ~) and typing:
run_string tasks_defense.barrier_defense_monolith_complete()
or
run_string tasks_defense.barrier_defense_zombie_complete()
(There are two variants of this mission, one with regular troops and another with zombies, doesn't really matter which script you pick, zombies variant gives less money as a reward).
This will end the mission successfully and it will give you a big chunk of money, and items, just as if you had successfully completed the mission, more importantly it will also re-enable emissions and surges.
I have not extensively tested that this doesn't break things down the line however (when I ran this script, I wasn't playing at the army warehouses map so no idea if that could break things there), but it does make it possible to debug spawn emissions and psy-storms again.
Hope this helps people (and this also proves this specific variant of this bug isn't caused by mods, as some people have mentioned in the past, there might be other variants of this bug which are caused by other bugs which might come from mods however).
